What happens if something is found on my ECG?

There’s about a 4% chance that something will be found on the ECG. If we do identify an abnormality then we would recommend further investigations in the form of a cardiac ultrasound Рwhich is what we perform most commonly Рand sometimes patients are also required to have a 24 hour ECG and an exercise stress test. But at the end of this, about 0.2% of people will have a serious cardiac problem, 1% will be identified with a minor problem and the other 2.8% will be appropriately reassured after thorough investigation.
